What does G.U.N.D.A.M stand for?
What does Gundam stand for? Does it stand for anything? Yes, it stands for:

Generation Unrestricted Network Drive Assault Module
The new Gundams in Gundam Seed Destiny are Version 2.5.3 revision 7. They are a new new generation of mobile suits. Just a note that while it is booting up, the G.U.N.D.A.M stands for something slightly different. Instead of Network, it says Nuclear:
Generation Unsubdued Nulear Drive Assault Module
Although it says "nuclear", the Gundams in SEED Destiny with this system are NOT nuclear powered with the exception of the Legend Gundam, which is based on Providence and IS nuclear powered. Why do you ask? Because according the the Armistice Agreement, N-Jammer Cancellers are illegal. That is precisely why there had to be a revision to the OS despite its similarity to the systems Freedom, Justice, and Providence had. Because of all the new enhancements made in the new Gundam models, the acronym has changed in Destiny. In Gundam SEED, it used to stand for:

General Unilateral Neuro-Link Dispersive Automatic Maneuver
That was what is stood for in the previous Gundam models. Gundam SEED is the first of all Gundam series to actually state what Gundam actually stood for. The system used in the Gundam SEED was also not nuclear powered. However, there IS an exception.
Generation Unsubdued Nulear Drive Assault Module
The Gundams Freedom, Justice, and Providence are 3 special Gundams that are nuclear powered and are the first to incorporate nuclear capabilities. Here is a shot of their operating system: The GFAS-X1 Destroy Gundam has yet another different representation of the acronym (shown below), which also fits the Destroy. It is gigantic, as it is over 10 times the size of a BuCUE, its Unilateral as it is capable of fighting on its own. Its numerous, as it has a large amount of firepower including positron cannons, beam cannons, and ballistics. Finally, ammunition speaks for itself as the Destroy Gundam is packed with a large arsenal of firepower.

Gigantic Unilateral Neumerous Dominating Ammunition
The ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam has a new OS. Version 1.62 revision 29. Its acronym is different as the Gundam is based on the Impulse. Gunnery represents the many guns it has and range weapons such as the palm beam cannon. United stands for the fact that like the Impulse, this Gundam also is capable of separating and uniting its parts. It is powered better than Gundams such as the Freedom as instead of running on Nuclear Power, it runs on Nuclear Duetrion power, which is what makes it capable of giving the Destiny Gundam its butterfly-like wings. It is definately advanced as it is the latest in ZAFT military technology. Maneuver represents its ability to move at quick speeds while maintaining control.

The GSX-401FW Stargazer has a customized OS that is made by DSSD. Due to the nature of this unit, it the name is based strongly off of its ability to be controlled from a station while unmanned. Guider represents how the unit is an inspiration and is a symbol of the advancements in space research. Unmanned, simply represents the capability as mentioned earlier about how it does not need a pilot in order to function. Deployment represents how this unit is usually deployed in space for research. Autonomic represents its artificial intelligence it has thus being able to act on its own will to an extent. Manipulation represents the fact that it can be controlled from the outside from an external control station.
