Flashback of Kira Yamato when he was little.

The episode starts out as the history of how the war started. And then shows a clip where Kira and Athrun meets in Heliopolis during the invasion. Ramius starts up the Strike Gundam and the OS screen shows up as the Gundam gets up. Then the opening song starts. Mobile suits are battling inside and outside as the people try to evacuate the colony.
Tolle and his friends try to escape when they see 2 mobile suits come out of the smoke, Aegis and Strike. Then Athrun tells Miguel that the Strike is being piloted by and Earth Army officer, and that Rusty died. Kira sees on visual of his friends running. Suddenly Miguel’s GINN fired beams at the Stirke. The Strike barely evades and is badly controlled. Miguel says that he will captured the remaining suit. Miguel then takes out his GINN sword and charges at the Strike. Athrun rebuilds his OS using his time wisely and disables the Self-Destruct Bomb within the stolen mobile suit. The Strike evades the GINN’s attack.
Then the GINN charges again and this time with no time to dodge Ramius starts up the Phase-Shift Armor, which blocked the GINN’s attack. Athrun tells Miguel about the Phase-Shift Armor. Soon after Athrun takes his leave while Miguel remains to take the Strike. Miguel keeps damaging the Strike as it keeps taking blows. Kira seeing his friends in trouble takes pilot of the Strike countering the GINN’s attack and rebuilding his OS. The GINN charges again and Kira punches at it.

He looks for a weapon to attack with and only finds a useless pair of Armr-Scneider. He takes out the two knives and attacks the GINN disabling it. So Miguel self-destructs the GINN and leaving it behind. The Ensign Badguriel is shown in a pile of rubble with dead people. Then the commander’s vessel of Mu La Flaga is crashed into a section of the colony and destroyed. Mu La Flaga attacks GINNs fending them off. Seeing as how Miguel’s unit was destroyed La Crueset leaves.
Badguriel then wanders around the destroyed facility looking for survivors and finds some. ZAFT mobile suits are given a retreat but Mu senses Crueset. The damaged Strike is set down as Miriallia tended Ramius’ wounds. Then Tolle and Kuzee looks around the Gundam wondering why the Gundam’s color changed. Sai warns them not to touch it but they ignore him. Ramius yells not to touch the Gundam and shoots at them, which misses. Kira tells Ramius that they saved her so why are you attacking us. Ramius asks each of the kids their name. Ramius can’t let the kids go because they saw top-secret army weapons. She can’t do anything until they are released to the proper authorities. Then Sai, Tolle, Kuzee starts talking to each other so Ramius shoots at the sky to shut them up.

Crueset then sneaks up on Mu from his CGUE. Then he runs into Heliopolis so Mu follows him. Badguriel goes inside the Archangel and activates its system and plans to get out of the debris. Then a distress signal is made to the Archangel from the Strike. A cargo ship arrives near the Strike carrying more secret things. Ramius asks Kira to try and contact any Earth Forces nearby. While Crueset and Mu starts fighting in the Heliopolis construction area. Mu is then hit and flies off in random directions.
The Archangel prepares to fire its Lohengrein to destroy the debris in the way and escape out of Heliopolis docking area. The Strike prepares itself to attatch the Launcher Striker pack. Then Crueset’s unit spots the Strike and prepares to destroy it. Mu inteferes and his mobile armor gets badly damaged. As the Lohengrein is fired the group looks at the Archangel. End Transmission.

Kira and his friends are now part of the Earth Alliance. Kira meets up with Athrun! Things are shaky and conditions are unstable as Heliopolis is split up into many parts. Thankfully there are escape pods that saved the population.
